Brainful+ — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Skraneix Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Brainful+ application for iPhone and iPad (the “App”).
In short: Brainful+ is designed as a local-first journal. Your thoughts, clusters, photos, videos, voice notes, and memory capsules are stored on your device and are not uploaded to us. Brainful++ members may optionally synchronize that content through their private Apple iCloud account. If you make or restore a purchase, Apple and our subscription provider, RevenueCat, process purchase and entitlement information. Brainful+ has no advertising SDK and does not track you across apps or websites.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
Brainful+ stores the content and settings you create locally in the App's private storage on your device. Depending on the features you use, this can include:
- Your written thoughts and their creation dates.
- Cluster names, images, lock status, and thought counts.
- Photos, videos, video thumbnails, and voice recordings you intentionally add to thoughts.
- Memory capsules, including their names, dates, colors, and associated thoughts and clusters.
- Items you mark as forgotten until you restore or permanently destroy them.
- App preferences such as theme, font, text size, brain size, onboarding status, shortcut settings, selected app icon, and the active capsule identifier.
- An optional four-digit cluster passcode stored in Apple Keychain, plus a salted one-way verifier used to validate the code after synchronization or backup restoration.
- Up to seven automatic local recovery snapshots containing journal text and structure, but not attached media.
We do not operate a Brainful+ account system or a server that receives your journal content. If you enable iCloud Sync, journal content is stored in your private iCloud database and handled by Apple so it can appear on your Apple devices.
1.1 App passcode
The optional Brainful+ cluster passcode is stored in Apple Keychain and is intended to prevent casual access to locked clusters through the App's interface. Brainful+ stores a salted, one-way cryptographic verifier—not the four-digit code itself—in the journal database and full JSON backup so the same code can be validated after iCloud synchronization or backup restoration. If you use Apple's system-level app lock from the Home Screen, iOS or iPadOS handles that protection outside Brainful+; the App does not receive or store biometric data. The cluster passcode is not end-to-end encryption, does not encrypt journal content or exported files, and is not a replacement for operating-system security.
1.2 Device backups
Your device or operating-system backup settings may back up App data through services provided by Apple. Those backups are controlled by your device and Apple account settings, not by Brainful+. Review your iCloud Backup settings if you do not want App data included in device backups.
1.3 Optional iCloud Sync
Brainful++ members can enable iCloud Sync in Settings. When enabled, Apple CloudKit synchronizes journal text, clusters, capsules, selected images, videos, voice notes, related metadata, and the salted cluster-passcode verifier through the private database of the Apple Account signed into iCloud on the device. The raw four-digit cluster passcode is not stored in CloudKit. Skraneix Studios does not receive or host this journal content. If Brainful++ expires, iCloud Sync turns off and the App keeps a local copy available on the device. After renewing, the member can turn sync back on; locally made changes are then merged into the private iCloud journal.
2. Information Processed for Purchases
Brainful+ offers optional subscriptions and one-time in-app purchases. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details.
We use RevenueCat to retrieve available products, validate purchases, restore purchases, and determine which paid features are available. When the App contacts RevenueCat, RevenueCat may process:
- A randomly generated anonymous App User ID.
- Purchase history, product identifiers, subscription status, transaction information, and Apple receipt information.
- Technical information needed to provide the service, such as device type, operating system, App version, locale, currency, IP address, and timestamps such as the last time the App contacted the service.
Brainful+ does not provide RevenueCat with your journal text, cluster names, photos, videos, voice notes, passcode, or exported journal files. We do not assign RevenueCat an account ID connected to your name or email address because Brainful+ currently has no user accounts.
RevenueCat processes this information on our behalf to provide purchase functionality, prevent purchase fraud, maintain entitlements, support purchase restoration, and provide purchase analytics. Learn more in RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
3. Permissions and User-Selected Access
Brainful+ only requests or uses access needed for features you choose:
- Microphone: requested when you choose to record a voice-note thought or dictate thought text. Voice-note audio is stored locally in the thought. Dictation audio is used for speech recognition and is not stored by Brainful+.
- Speech recognition: requested when you choose Dictate. Apple’s speech-recognition service converts your speech into text. Depending on your device, language, and downloaded language support, recognition may occur on the device or Apple may process the audio under Apple’s privacy terms. Brainful+ stores only the resulting text in your thought.
- Photos and videos: Apple's system photo picker lets you select specific items to add. Brainful+ receives only the items you choose through the picker and does not request unrestricted access to your entire photo library.
- Files and iCloud Drive: when you choose Import, you select a JSON export file through Apple's file picker. When you choose Export or Save to iCloud Drive, Brainful+ creates a JSON backup, Markdown journal, or PDF journal and gives it to Apple's share or document interface so you control where it is sent or saved. Files placed in iCloud Drive are stored and synchronized by Apple according to your iCloud settings.
- iCloud Sync: if a Brainful++ member enables this feature, Brainful+ uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronize journal content through the private iCloud database associated with the Apple Account on the device.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device authentication: requested only if you choose to reset a forgotten cluster passcode. Brainful+ receives only whether authentication succeeded. Apple's optional system-level app lock is configured and handled outside Brainful+.
Brainful+ does not request access to your contacts, precise location, health data, camera, advertising identifier, or cross-app tracking.
4. How We Use Information
Information handled by the App is used to:
- Create, organize, display, edit, export, import, restore, and delete your thoughts and related media.
- Remember your App preferences and selected features.
- Record and play voice-note thoughts and convert optional dictation into text when requested.
- Process, validate, restore, and manage in-app purchases.
- Determine whether Brainful++ or a purchased lobe should be available.
- Synchronize journal content between your Apple devices when you enable iCloud Sync.
- Prevent purchase fraud and resolve subscription-support issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce applicable agreements.
5. When Information Is Shared
We do not sell your information. We do not use your journal content for advertising, artificial-intelligence training, or profiling.
Information may be handled by:
- Apple: for App Store distribution, in-app purchases, subscription management, optional iCloud/CloudKit synchronization, optional speech recognition, system photo and file pickers, share sheets, device backups, and other operating-system services you use. Apple's handling is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: for purchase validation, purchase history, subscription and entitlement management, restoration, fraud prevention, and purchase analytics.
- Recipients you choose: if you export or share a Brainful+ file, the destination, app, service, or person you select receives that file. Their privacy practices apply after you share it.
- Legal and safety disclosures: we may disclose information if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights, prevent fraud, or protect users and the public. Because journal content is not uploaded to us, we ordinarily do not possess it to disclose.
We require service providers acting on our behalf to protect information consistently with this Policy and applicable law.
6. Tracking, Advertising, and Analytics
Brainful+ does not contain third-party advertising and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission. We do not use information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
RevenueCat provides analytics limited to purchases and entitlement behavior, such as whether a product was purchased or restored. Brainful+ does not currently include a general-purpose behavioral analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
7. Retention and Deletion
7.1 Content stored on your device
- Active thoughts, clusters, media, and capsules remain until you delete them or remove the App.
- Forgotten items remain in Brainful+ local storage so they can be restored. You can permanently destroy them from Settings.
- The “Forget Everything” option permanently deletes Brainful+ content from the App's local database, including local recovery snapshots and any recovered draft.
- Removing the App generally removes its local container from that device. Copies may remain in device backups according to Apple's backup and retention rules.
- If iCloud Sync is enabled, synchronized content can remain in your private iCloud database and on your other devices until deletion is synchronized. Turning sync off does not itself delete the private iCloud copy.
- Files you exported are separate copies. Deleting information inside Brainful+ does not delete copies you previously saved or shared elsewhere.
- Automatic recovery snapshots remain in the App's local container and are removed when rotated out, when you disable and manually remove App data, or when the App container is removed.
7.2 Purchase information
Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase and transaction information according to their legal, fraud-prevention, accounting, and service requirements. Some purchase records may need to be retained even after a deletion request. Contact us to request deletion of purchase information under our control; where necessary, we will pass the request to RevenueCat. Deleting purchase records does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account subscription settings.
8. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing of, or obtain a portable copy of personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority.
You can exercise many choices directly:
- Edit, forget, restore, or permanently destroy journal content inside Brainful+.
- Export your journal as a portable JSON file.
- Revoke microphone or speech-recognition access in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
- Stop selecting photos, videos, or files through system pickers.
- Enable or disable Brainful++ iCloud Sync in Brainful+ Settings and manage iCloud access in Apple device settings.
- Cancel or manage a subscription through Apple's subscription-management interface.
- Delete the App to remove its local container from the device, subject to device backups and exported copies.
For a privacy request involving information processed by us or RevenueCat, email us using the contact details below. We may need information reasonably necessary to locate an anonymous purchase record and verify the request.
9. Security
Brainful+ relies on the iOS/iPadOS app sandbox and operating-system protections to isolate locally stored App data. iCloud synchronization and purchase communications use encrypted network connections. CloudKit journal records are stored in the private database associated with your Apple Account. We take reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the information we handle.
No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your device with a strong device passcode and keep control of exported files containing private journal content.
10. International Processing
Purchase-related information processed by RevenueCat may be transferred to and stored in the United States or other countries where RevenueCat or its service providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. RevenueCat states that it uses contractual and technical safeguards for applicable international transfers.
11. Children's Privacy
Brainful+ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided purchase-related personal information through the App, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Local journal content remains on the device and is controlled by the device user.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Brainful+ changes or as legal requirements evolve. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice in the App, through the App Store listing, or by another appropriate method. The date at the top shows when this Policy was last updated.
